At present, a large number of industrial computers (IPC) with different configurations are used in the industrial field as computing centers for motion control, machine vision, data collection and other functions. However, as a relatively standard automation core component, IPC needs continuous evolution to meet the needs of various applications in the automation industry, including interaction with peripheral equipment, scalability, realization of motion control functions, reliability, and so on.

The ProU team designed the "winMotion" series of IPCs, hoping to solve the pain points of being a digital equipment computing center:

Rich external interface

Nowadays, there are more and more camera applications on automation equipment. The number of built-in network ports in traditional IPC is relatively small. Expansion of PCI/PCIe network card will bring reliability, IPC volume, cost and other issues, especially for automation installed in harsh environments. equipment.

winMotion provides a wealth of external interfaces, as shown in the figure below. In a compact volume, almost all types of interfaces commonly required for automation equipment are integrated. It greatly simplifies the design and selection of engineers, and also improves the scalability of automation equipment.

 

 

  1. Stable and reliable like PLC
    The winMotion series of industrial computers adopt a fanless design, which can work stably in an environment up to 50°C and has an IP30 protection level. In addition to the mainboard battery, the internal PCB board of the IPC is completely connected by connectors to obtain extremely high system stability.

The standard platform that has passed EMC, vibration, and ambient temperature testing greatly improves the stability and avoids the occasional problem of poor golden finger contact similar to PCI/PCIe expansion ports. Standard solid-state hard drive improves impact resistance.

winMotion also provides a system disk data protection function to avoid Windows system crashes that may be caused by abnormal shutdown.

Through the built-in ferroelectric memory (optional configuration), you can store data during machine operation when the machine is abnormally powered off.

Built-in powerful high-speed pulse output and high-speed counting function

Motion control is also the core function of automation equipment. At present, the mainstream solution in the industry is the communication between IPC and PLC or the expansion of motion control boards. However, this will increase the complexity of the machine program, increase the size of the machine control module and increase the difficulty of maintenance. WinMotion's built-in digital I/O integrates rich high-speed output and high-speed counting functions, as shown in the figure below:

 

 

Up to 16-axis pulse output, pulse frequency up to 200K. The high-speed optocoupler ensures that the external interface of the IPC reaches the PLC level stability and anti-interference.

At the same time, the high-speed input supports 4-channel AB-phase high-speed counting with 200K frequency or 8-channel single-phase high-speed counting with 200K frequency. But in terms of high-speed interface, winMotion has almost reached the control scale of mainstream medium-sized PLC, taking into account the powerful computing performance of Intel CPU (compared to the embedded CPU of PLC or motion control board). WinMotion is an ideal computing and control center for vision + motion applications in the automation industry.

Based on the built-in real-time system, winMotion can achieve fast tasks that are difficult to achieve with traditional industrial computers. As shown below:

    Fieldbus technology is one of the core requirements of Industry 4.0. We have been exploring the reliable and convenient solution of IPC to realize industrial fieldbus. Based on fieldbus technology, users can realize high-performance motion control; realize multi-axis, multi-IO point machine control without increasing the IPC volume; solution engineers can choose the best cost-effective slave from the massive EtherCAT slaves Solution; realize more efficient interaction with machine vision and measurement system...

    In the end, we realized this dream in the winMotion series of industrial computers. By calling the API function we provided (the same as the pulse mode application method), the user can turn a network port of the IPC into an EtherCAT master station and directly control the servo based on the EtherCAT bus. , Stepping, IO and other slave modules.

    And users can realize EtherCAT and pulse motion control work at the same time on winMotion, meeting the needs of flexible and powerful machine control, as shown in the following figure:

 

 

Based on EtherCAT bus technology, the ProU team cooperated with the German motion control algorithm company to provide customers with advanced motion control algorithm functions. Users can implement advanced motion such as speed and torque feedforward, multi-axis spatial interpolation, electronic cams, etc. by calling API functions control function.

 

 

In summary, WinMotion is a collection of high-performance industrial computers, motion control boards and Microsoft Windows+RTOS, and is a future-oriented industrial computer ecosystem.
